Summer has finally arrived at Hopping Hare Candles

Like our Spring Collection, the candles are presented in white glass containers with ribbon and wax seal presentation details.

Introducing Tropical Oud, a fruity summer treat, nothing smells more like summer holidays than this candle. Florals meet exotic summer fruit with a powerful punch of mango and other magical summer aromas to create this surprising yet wonderfully rounded blend.

This is smooth blend, not overly sweet, just wonderfully reminiscent of sunshine, relaxation and journeys of discovery, where fruit and floral oils are mixed with coconut to compliment decadent oud

A true feast for the senses.

Also for our Summer 2018 collection is Twilight, it took a while to get the right floral balance for this candle, not too sweet, not too pungent, it’s mellow and soothing with a middle notes mix of jasmine, gardenia and neroli amongst others with base notes of rosewood and amber

Imagine walking through a midsummer garden as the sun is setting and inhale the aromas of the flowers as they release their last perfume of the day before night falls..

A wonderful aroma that brings the opulent scent of gorgeously scented garden flowers into your home.

The perfect gentle English summer blend.

The collection is available as 9cl and 30cl candles as standard and as 50cl 3 wick white glass, 100cl 4 wick clear glass and 200cl clear glass 4 wick to order.

Tealight samples are now available to test the new fragrances too, just £1 with free P&P plus if you like it, get your £1 off a full sized version, Removes the worry about buying candles online – a little taster (but obviously not literally!)

and summer keeps rolling on…..

Recycle your Candles

Over several cups of coffee, we were discussing all the new recycling developments, and thought of an idea.

What if you could recycle your candles?

We are currently trialling these metal containers with rapeseed wax and our Warming essential oil blend and in Oriental Oud, Rose and Oud and Persian Oud fragrance oil blends. The idea is that when they have finished burning, you send or give us back the container and we refill for a cheaper price than buying a new candle.

We think these lovely metal containers would do the job nicely, as metal is better than glass for this recycling purpose. There’s two sizes available and two colourways, silver and the very ‘of the moment’ copper.

A few customers are trying them out as well as us, so we will post updates of our progress, we will have them on our show stands if you come along and have a look and tell us your thoughts.

Good idea or do you prefer having a ‘box fresh’ candle every time?

Candle Ideas for Mothers Day

Mother’s Day (also known as Mothering Sunday) in the UK is the 10th March, yes, that soon.

Traditional Mothers Day gifts include chocolates and flowers, but at Hopping Hare we like to think that Mum’s deserve something a bit longer lasting and with perfumes getting increasingly more expensive, then a candle could be the solution for you.

We have spoken to a few of our customers about the types of candle fragrances they would like to receive as gifts, something they usually have to buy for themselves.

The top fragrances were a quite traditional, like Rose and Vanilla, but interestingly, a new favourite appears to be Pomegranate,  which is fast becoming one of our most popular candle blends. We also found that our Vintage Fizz candle is a firm favourite for any occasion.

We have suggested these 4 candles as ideal gift options for Mother’s Day. Also our Soft Vanilla candles are on offer at the moment, they still come in our lovely packaging, with ribbon and wax seal so need need to even wrap them up! To get 20% off both sizes of Soft Vanilla, simply enter van20 at the checkout in our web shop.www.hoppingharecandles.co.uk/soft-vanilla/

Still can’t decide, then why not choose a 3 x votive gift box, you can choose three different small candles that come packaged in a special black gift box, decorated in our usual way with ribbon and wax seal. www.hoppingharecandles.co.uk/3-candle-gift-box/

New Rose and Oud Candle Fragrance launched

We are delighted to launch our new home fragrance candle today – Rose & Oud.

We are very excited about our new candle fragrance. The basis of these two oils is already a popular blend, but we have put our own recipe together for this emerging classic.

By adding a little patchouli oil it gives a rounded warmth to the soft velvet rose floral and smoky wood combination of the Rose and Oud, we have also added a light touch of jasmine and a few other oils that will for now remain between the Hares team.

The overall effect is a highly fragrant, decadent, luxurious and heady but not overpowering fragrance. It strikes a perfect balance between floral and wood and lingers subtly for a time after the flame is extinguished. It is so lovely to walk back into a room hours later where the candle has been burning and still catch the fragrance.

This candle is made from 100% rapeseed wax, which we use for all our essential oil and limited edition candles. This natural wax may be tricky to work with but it gives a such great scent throw and really clean and long burn times that it is still our wax of choice. In testing our 20cl candle burned for just over 30 hours.

If you like our Oriental Oud, Oud Noir and Moroccan Rose candles you will love this blend, all the best features of each of those candles rolled into one.

The Rose and Oud candle is one of our limited editions. The candle is in black glass and to show it off, we have wrapped the candle in red rose tissue, boxed it in a sturdy 2-part presentation gift box and added our signature ribbon and wax seal in red too. It looks very striking and makes a perfect present to give or keep for yourself.

A fabulous gift for Valentines Day, after all a candle lasts much longer than flowers and is far more fragrant!

Rose & Oud Fragrance Oil Candle

Gift Ideas for Christmas

“I’ve got far too many candles already”

says no-one ever!

A candle is always an appreciated and welcome gift.

It’s time to start searching for secret santa presents and stocking fillers. Our handmade small 9cl candles are the perfect size and are beautifully packaged to save you some time and effort.  Just add your own tag to our pre-ribboned and wax sealed boxes and you are good to go.

Not sure which to choose? Here’s a quick guide through our range to find the perfect gift…

Safety first – if you are really not sure what someone likes then opt for Soft Vanilla, it’s a safe bet, not a sweet, sickly vanilla, instead it is soft and woody vanilla and impossible to dislike.

Looking for the perfect small gift for the stressed/tired person in your life, then look at our essential oil range.  These are all unique blends of pure therapeutic essential oils and to give you a hint, their names describe what they offer when they burn.

For those who are stressed? choose Relaxing, Someone feeling out of sorts? choose Balancing

Lost your va-va boom, then Restoring could be the perfect antidote.

Need a boost, then Uplifting is your best bet,

Seasonal blues a problem, then Warming will boost your mood and spirit or Calming will help you chill out and relax.

For something more seasonal, and an ideal small gift for a host over the holiday season, then Winter Spice, Spiced Amber and Vintage Fizz could be ideal choices.

Something more exotic, then try our Seasonal Oud collection, all have the fabulous oud as their base but are mixed with many other fragrance combinations including woody, floral, and spicy to dark souk-inspired blends.

Perennial favourites for any candle lovers in your life you need to buy gifts for include: Cassis & Fig, Pomegranate RougeMoroccan Rose and Citrus Twist, these are all classic candle aromas and never fail to delight

Finally which candle to buy the most difficult person, try Rare Pear and Tonka, it’s very unusual and evolves as it burns making it both intriguing and inviting.

Happy (s)Hopping! Continue reading

The Festive Gift Fair at the NEC, yes Christmas started here…

NEC Festive Gift Fair  16-19 November 2017

The Festive Gift Fair was our first ever four day show and our first experience of the massive crowds who attend this event every year. With live music, gift ideas for all tastes and pockets and entertainment at every turn, the Festive Gift Fair was an experience and a half.

We received some amazing feedback about our candles, the stand and our packaging. We were also showcasing a selection of candlesticks by Pedal to the Metal, Ross is a young, innovative and talented blacksmith and our customers just loved his excellent, hand-forged work, especially his traditional spiral candlesticks (which we now call the Wee Willie Winkie candlesticks! (sorry Ross but the name is catching on).

We wanted to pass on a few Thank You’s…

– to all the people who visited our stand and talked to us about candles (and hares)

– to everyone who purchased our candles, we hope you enjoy them (it didn’t sound as if many candles were actually going to be passed on as gifts. We saythats OK as it’s always good to treat yourself when you are supposed to be buying presents for others!)

– to Nicky, Sharla and the lovely Viv from Orchard Events for all their help and assistance with the show

– to our fellow exhibitors, especially fellow candlemaker Warren and his lovely wife at Candlebury, Naeem and his team from The Oud Shop and Vicky & Fran from Crafty Little Prints.

Also thank you to our stand neighbours; Gill at Diamondsareforever, the team at The Sunflower Shop (thanks for the turbans) and of course, the legend that is Norbert from Carneol Glass who we thank wholeheartedly for keeping us thoroughly entertained for four days.

It was great to meet you all and we welcome all the great event recommendations and all the help you gave to a couple of Festive Fair rookies.

We are already planning for the next show…

We will be at the inaugural Frost Fair at Ragley Hall, Alcester, Warwickshire this weekend, the show opens on Friday 24th and runs through til Sunday 26th, opening times are 10am til 5pm daily.

Hare raising stuff at the Hensmans “Big Hair Do”

What a great evening, put together by Hensmans of Northampton, our fabulous hairdressers!

Over 160 people attended the evening, where hair and fashion shows, demos, taster beauty treatments, make up demos where enjoyed by all.

We were there to conduct some research on our new blends and to road test some of our new presentation pieces. We received some excellent feedback, although the aim of the research was to reduce the new range, we have ended up adding to it as a result of the excellent, very detailed and thorough feedback we received on the night.

Thanks to everyone to spent time with us and bought candles, we really appreciate your time and special thanks to Gemma and Julie Hensman for letting us take over their training room.
